No statement within this website is intended to cause any offence or damage to anyone, and the author is not responsible for any offence taken or any damage that ensues.

This website contains the history of the Young family who originated in Scotland at the farm 'Cleughead'. The story starts from James Hair Young, the first of the Young family to emigrate to New Zealand.

BASIS
Using as a basis the booklet entitled "James and Harriet Young of Hopedale Farm Koromiko and ther descendants 1862-1991" prepared by the Reunion Committee led by Norman Young, an attempt has been made to produce a consistent tree with all dates and places of births, marriages, divorces, and deaths.
Approximately 360 people (see Index on left-side panel) are mentioned in the booklet - these are mainly people who are or were part of the Young family. Other friends may be mentioned, but sometimes their names do not appear in the Index.

CORRECTIONS
It is inevitable that not all information has become available via usual sources (see the many (when ?) and (where ?) questions within the pages). Anyone knowing any of the missing data is asked to contact the author (Clive Pollard) via the
comments form, or personally by e-mail to clive@ceepol.com.
There are several cases of dispute of names and dates within the Young history booklet, which should be simple to correct by anyone who has the exact information (e.g., spelling of Allan or Alan, Frances or Francis, some dates, etc.). If you find any mistakes, please provide corrections.
As a member of the Young family, you may be in contact with one or more of the other members of your family. Please refer them to this website and ask them to provide additional information if available.

PHOTOS
Some of the pictures that have been scanned in from the booklet do not look very good on the site. However, they do download and print out successfully. Anyone wanting copies of these pics can also ask via the website.

If anyone has other photos that they would like to see on the site, especially of the older members of the family, they should send them to the author, indicating whether the original photos should be returned. If possible, send the photos already scanned electronically, and either in GIF or JPG format.

STORIES
It is particularly interesting to read the stories available on the earlier years of the family, but this does not mean that more modern stories are also not of interest. Anyone with interesting stories to add to this site is asked to send them to the author.

INDEX
The full Index shows the names of those who have complete webpages in italics. The Index is based on first name(s) and is divided into parts - see left-side panel.

Thanks

Clive Pollard
