YOUNG family history

Remi Young 2002-

Karen, Clive & Remi

with his pet rabbit, Sheek

as young Carl in the promo film L:ife of Cardboard

REMI YOUNG was bom in Haarlem, Netherlands on 15 September 2002 to parents Karen Louise Young and Clive Pollard. He had a bad start to life, stopping breathing on his first Saturday and being rushed to hospital after Clive had revived him by mouth-to-mouth. His breathing stabilised overnight and he recovered, although with some problems with his airways ever since. He had his adenoids removed early, and had his ears cleaned.

Remi has proved to be a very bright child. He is being educated at Goollelal Primary School (Kingsley, WA), but still teaches his teachers, especially regarding his favourite topics of animals and dinosaurs.

He has been a happy traveller, going to New Zealand from Holland within his first 2 months of life, and since to Dubai (twice), the USA (Chicago and Bakersfield/New Orleans), and New Zealand (usually Timaru, on several occasions).

His grandfather Pollard died in May 2006; his grandmother Pollard in December 2008; both grandparents lived in Blenheim, New Zealand for more than 30 years.

He has taken on acting and has already appeared in several films - nothing major just yet. His StarNow profle (with more photos, a music video and film clips) can be found here. When the full 3-part film of Life of Cardboard is filmed (due Sept.-Dec. 2011), Remi will play the part of young Carl in the 1st episode.

He is the proud owner of a pet rabbit, which he named Sheek (not after the Star Trek character - just from his own head). Surprisingly, Sheek is still alive after several years.

He enjoys athletics and completed the 2010 City-to-Surf 4km run (with his mum) in Perth. He takes part in WA Little Athletics and has proved to be very good at 800 m. As he is only 15 days within the age limit as under 10 (in 2011), he is always competing against older boys.

Like his Mum and Dad, he has taken up squash and now reckons this is his favorite sport. He is currently ranked as no. 4 in WA in the Under-11 age group - not bad, considering he is still only 8.
