PHILLIP WARREN YOUNG was bom at Tuatapere on
11 June 1956 to parents William
Stuart and Jennifer
May (Lee) Young. He attended Pahia Primary and Riverton
District High School where he was a school prefect. He married Pauline Smeaton of Orawia (when ?) November 1980 in Invercargill. Phil worked for many years the Forestry. A talented sportsman, he has represented both Southland and Otago at rugby, playing some 50 games for Otago, Southland Senior and Otago at cricket, South Island U18 rugby and Captain of South Island Maori Team also Otago 1984. Philip was the coach of the Highlanders Colts rugby team from ??. After a period as assistant Highlanders Coach under Greg Cooper, he is now Development Coach for Otago Rugby. Phil and Pauline have 3 children - Nathan Phillip was bom on 26 August 1982 at Milton, Katie Lee was born on 10 January 1985 at Milton and Bradon John was bom on 17 October 1990 at Outram. Phil has recently been appointed coach for the Southland rugby team - see press releases. The couple live at 55 Skerries Street, Outram, Otago.
