YOUNG family history

Norman James Young 1947-

  NORMAN JAMES YOUNG was bom on 9 August 1947 at Tuatapere of parents James Owen and Ellen Mary (King) Young. He attended Pahia Primary School, Southland Boys High School and then Lincoln College where he attained a diploma in Agriculture. He joined M.A.F. and worked in Christchurch, Stratford, Balclutha and Gore. He then worked as a Field Officer with The Southland Co-op Phosphate Co, Ltd as Senior Field Officer. He now works for Pyne Gold Guiness, a farm mercantile company.

Norman married Sandra Mary Smith in New Plymouth on 25 March 1972 and they have two sons - Shaun James was bom on 11 August 1973 in Balclutha and is currently working for Cadbury's in Wellington. Craig Owen was bom on 29 May 1975 also in Balclutha and is on OE in Letterkenny in Ireland.

Norman played rugby and tennis and is now a keen golfer, an interest shared by Sandra and the boys. He has always been keen on his music, and plays the electronic organ very proficiently. He also enjoys photography and was Chairman of the Young Family Reunion Committee, held in January 1990.
