| JAMES IAN YOUNG was born at Invercargill on
19 June 1920 to parents James
Aitken and Elizabeth
(Erskine) Young. He attended school at Papatotara and
then worked on the family farm until his father's death
in 1944, at which time he took it over. In 1954 he sold
the farm and moved to a property at Kirwee in Canterbury,
which he developed into a first class fat lamp producing
unit. In 1980 he emigrated to Victoria, Australia with
his son Roger and family. Later he moved to Goffs
Harbour, Northern Coastal N.S.W. and started a building
business of which he is presently a director. On 5 May 1946 Ian married Helen Frances George at First Church, Invercargill and they had four children - James William was born on 11 August 1947 (where ?), Roger Ian was born on 2 March 1951 (where ?), Peter David was born on 25 October 1952 (where ?) and Nicholas Francis was born on 6 July 1956 (where ?).
