GARY DAVID YOUNG was born on 16 July 1961 at
Queen Victoria Maternity Hospital, Invercargill, to
parents Errol Ernest Stanley and Dawn
Esther (McCleery) Young. He
was educated, first at St. George School, Invercargill,
then later at Newfield School. He later attended Cromwell
Primary and Cromwell District High School when he moved
to Cromwell with his parents in 1970. He married Allison McDonald on 1 April 1984 at Waverly Presbyterian Church, Invercargill in a double wedding with his sister Sue and Darryn Buist. Gary and Allison had two children - Cody William was bom on 1 April 1986 (where ?) and Daniel Mark was bom on 1 December 1988 (where ?). Gary served an apprenticeship as an automotive electrician with Knowles Electrical in Invercargill, and was named as the top apprentice in New Zealand (when?). They moved to Cromwell to live just after Cody was born. Gary worked at the Beattie's Service Station in Cromwell and later at CR Motors. Gary's first marriage ended in 1994, and the boys stayed with their mother. The family later moved to Christchurch and their mother remarried. Gary moved to Dunedin in 1996 with his new partner, Leonie Davidson. Leonie had four boys, Kevin Robert, Mathew Craig, Oliver Ian and Elliot Heath from her previous marriage. Gary worked for Norman Electrical in Dunedin and is now with the firm of Proctor & McLay. Leonie works as office manager at Image Print. They live at 76 Marlow Street, Tainui, Dunedin. Gary and Leonie have a keen interest in vintage cars, Model T Fords in particular. At present they own a 1927, Sherwood green Model T, they call Amy. Gary is also in the process of rebuilding a 1917 model and eventually hopes to build a Model T Truck. |
