| GAIL MARIE BROWNRIDGE was bom on 28 April
1954 to parents Gwen (Young)
and Ian Brownridge. She was educated at Orepuki
Primary, Riverton District High and Southland Technical
College. She studied commercial subjects and passed
several Pitmans typing exams. Her first employment was with H & J Smiths Ltd as office junior and then at the Southland Savings Bank, Invercargill where she worked as office clerk, and machinist for three years. She married Edward Alexander Skeggs, a farmer from Pahia on 17 November 1973 at Orepuki. Gail has always enjoyed music and she plays a variety of instruments (guitar, piano, accordion, organ) and attained music theory exams to Grade Two. At the age of 15 she was playing the piano accordion with her mother in a dance band. Her other interests include dressmaking and handcrafts. In 1985 Gail became a Foundation Member of Riverton I.T.C. Club and has served as Club Treasurer, Secretary and Membership Chairman. She has also rediscovered a talent for writing and gained confidence in communicating skills. Gail and Edward have three children - Jason Phillip Edward was bom on 23 June 1976 (where ?), Tania Marie was bom on 11 May 1978 (where ?) and Natalie Gail was bom on 10 June 1980 (where ?). The family live on their farm property at Cosy Nook, Pahia RD 1, Riverton. |
